More than 100,000 hungry people attended last year to sample some of Cobb County’s finest cuisine at the county’s best festival, according to by Cobb Life Magazine readers. The festival has expanded this year to encompass the entire square to accommodate the crowd.
Rain or shine, hot or cold — you will find the Ragsdale family of east Cobb at Taste. “As long as I can remember we have been going to Taste of Marietta,” Debbi Ragsdale said.
Ragsdale’s entire family attends each year including her husband, Steve, daughter, Ashley, and daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Neal Belcher, along with their 3-year-old son, William.
The family enjoys trying foods at different booths along with enjoying the ongoing entertainment. “There are still restaurants we go to because of Taste of Marietta. We were introduced to Henry’s (Louisiana Grill of Acworth) by going to (Taste),” she said.
More than 80 restaurants will be showcasing their best dishes with tastes ranging from $.50 to $5. Outdoor entertainment will be provided all day, culminating with the Sunset Concert by “Banks & Shane” on the Main Stage. Bert Reeves will make his first appearance, and the Men In Blues will play on the MBA West Park Stage from 1 to 5 p.m.
“It’s fun to go see friends up there. The entertainment is great. It’s a great day for us. It’s a great family thing for us to do,” said Ragsdale, who has lived in Marietta since age 12.
The day includes ongoing culinary demonstrations, including one for children, the Wade Ford Car Show, LGE Community Credit Union Kids Alley and Sports Corner where players from the Atlanta Braves and the Hawks will be present.
Bring six non-perishable items to the MUST Ministries tent near the Strand Theatre and receive a ticket to enter a drawing at the LGE tent beside MUST for a Kindle Fire from LGE. MUST helped 34,000 in the past year.
For many like the Ragsdale family, Taste is a tradition. “Taste is just a big family affair for us. It’s a great family day. We look forward to it every year and mark it on our calendars. We always plan on it and always have,” Ragsdale said.
Parking will be available at the Cobb County parking deck on Cherokee Street or at any of the lots around the Square. There will be additional parking at Marietta Middle School and a free shuttle provided by the Historic Marietta Trolley Company. Attendees are asked not to park in church lots.

It is way too crowded for me to have fun. I'd rather scratch a few fleas and crash on the sofa.
