The event is an outdoor presentation of the story of the Nativity, which features actors and live animals, church members say.
Church member Lily Parks of Dallas said each performance features up to 25 actors. However, new performers take their place every show, meaning at least 180 actors perform throughout the two-night event.
Complimentary musical entertainment, cocoa, cookies and other refreshments will be served, she said.
“We’re not asking for anything. It’s giving to the community,” Parks said.
At least 1,000 people attended the event in 2012 at the corner of Mars Hill and Fords roads, she said.
Modern touches complement the performance, which is set at the birth of Christ. A spotlight beams into the sky to show attendees the way to the show, while attendants dressed as angels help guide the audience to their seats.
“I think it’s very enjoyable,” Parks said.
A “Community Messiah” also is scheduled today at 7 p.m. at the church at 5725 Fords Road in Acworth.
