Get ready for a Solid Gold Summer in Marietta.

The Earl Smith Strand Theatre presents a series of musical song and dance revues with three electrifying shows on rotation: Men of Motown, Diva! and Jukebox Giants. Dance through the ’50s through the ’80s in whatever order you choose.

The show features favorite classic songs and high-energy dance that will get patrons on their feet discoing and doo-wopping.

“The music for this show hits all of our favorites: rock from the ’50s through the ’80s, Motown music and a wide variety of diva showcase songs. We pack about 40-60 songs in per show so there is something for everyone,” said Cassi Costoulas, general manager of the Strand.

“The shows are fast paced and energetic, so it’s hard not to get caught up immediately. This cast genuinely is having a good time on stage, and they want you to join in their excitement,” said Catherine Moulton, production manager of the Strand.

Musical revues are popular with Strand audiences.

“Some of our most positive patron feedback comes from our music revues. The Strand will always be trying new events and different programming, but we are dedicated to the patrons’ favorites and keeping the tried and true going,” said Costoulas, a Marietta resident.

“The nice thing about growing our music revues is that we have regular cast members that have grown with us. We have some performers that have been in shows with us since our first Motown show in 2011,” Moulton explained.

Annual rotating summer shows are successful in theatres across the U.S.

“We’d love to make this a regular summer event: rotate shows for two months so that summer vacation plans don’t get in the way of getting a good dose of Strand entertainment,” Costoulas said.

“This cast is insanely talented. Performance arts majors from colleges across the country have come to Marietta for the summer to do these shows. We also have quite a number of local professionals involved that perform all over the city,” Costoulas said.

The show is appropriate for everyone.

“There aren’t many places around town where you can bring the whole family, grab snacks and drinks at the concession stand, bring those snacks into the theater and watch a live show that’s going to put an instant smile on your face,” Moulton said.

Tickets are $20 with a $15 price for students, seniors, military and groups of 10 or more. Shows rotate through June and July. For show times and tickets, visit earlsmithstrand.org or call the box office at (770) 293-0080.
