Anne Jane Hoagland Sparks, age 72, of Marietta, GA passed away Wednesday, March 20. She is survived by her brother, Jack Hoagland, her son and daughter in law, Jeff and Lisa Sparks, her daughter Betsy Sparks, her daughter and son in law, Cindy and Walt Ehmer, her daughter and son in law, Vicky and Rusty Bedsole, her son and daughter in law, Rick and Lana Sparks, her daughter and son in law, Kathy and Wolfgang Jonas and her nine grandchildren, Jack Sparks, Greg Ehmer, Anna Kate Ehmer, Lesley Ehmer, Charlotte Bedsole, Brink Bedsole, Monica Jonas, Max Jonas, and Rick Jonas. Anne’s treasures in life were her children, grandchildren and countless friends (many of them lifelong) that she could always find time for with a good story or joke. Born in Champaign, Illinois on February 26, 1941 to Max and Florence Hoagland, she considered herself a farm girl through and through even after living in Atlanta for the last 50 years. After attending Gulf Park College and then graduating from the University of Tennessee, she worked as a teacher at Northside High School in Atlanta. After many years as a homemaker, she combined her passions for people and sports and started her career in the golf business. Anne loved her career working in various golf pro shops around the Atlanta area until she retired from her most recent job at Capital City Club and especially loved meeting new people and making new friends at each club. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 24 from 4-6pm at Sandy Springs Chapel located at 136 Mount Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, GA. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 25 at 11am at the Episcopal Church of St. Peter and St. Paul located at 1795 Johnson Ferry Road in Marietta, GA. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes .org or Alzheimer’s Association at
