POWDER SPRINGS — Peggy Pepper, who retired from Cobb Schools in 2009, has been named the interim principal at Vaughan Elementary.

The school’s former principal, Barbara Swinney, was named the Area 1 assistant superintendent two weeks ago. Pepper has 31 years of experienced in education, with 24 of those in Cobb Schools. Before retiring, she was the principal at Ford Elementary in Powder Springs for four years, and last school year

she was brought back to be an assistant principal at Russell Elementary in Smyrna for the second half the year.

“It’s been a great opportunity to work in the community that I know and to work with such great teachers … luckily I know many of the parents here too,” she said about being an administrator in the Powder Springs area again. Superintendent Dr. Michael Hinojosa could not confirm when a permanent principal will be announced but said the principal hiring process typically takes about 60 days.
