Prep Roundup: Wolverines don’t show rust after spring break

After taking four days off for spring break, Walker returned to action and didn’t miss a beat, beating Fellowship Christian 8-1 on Tuesday.

The Wolverines (5-13, 5-8 Region 6A) pounded out 14 hits — all singles — and stole six bases in taking the victory in Roswell. Walker scored twice in the first and second innings, and put the contest out of reach with three runs in the sixth.

Mitchell Golden and James Pittinger each batted 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Wolverines. Gavin Crouch and Jake Depiero were

1-for-4 with an RBI, while Kevin Bray batted 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Alex Watkins had an RBI. Zach Eikost and Cameron Bloebaum each hit 2-for-4.

Eikost also picked up the victory after allowing one unearned run in the seventh. He gave up three hits, walked one and struck out nine in a complete-game victory.

Walker will host Trion today.

Christian Heritage 13, North Cobb Christian 6: After a long break for spring mission trips, the Eagles’ return to the field resulted in a Region 6A setback.

Christian Heritage was on base frequently, drawing 10 hits and a combined 10 walks and hit batsmen.

North Cobb Chrsitian (6-9, 2-9) gathered eight hits, seven walks and one hit batsman of its own.

Dylan Crumbley was 2-for-3 with an RBI double, while Canon Robinson was 2-for-4 and Patrick Martin 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Trip Ross has an RBI as well, while Robert Gnann singled.

North Cobb Christian will host Gordon Lee today.
