Martin Onate parked his 2000 Chevrolet Malibu in the fire lane in front of an AT&T store at 50 Ernest Barrett Parkway, east of Interstate 575 in Kennesaw, the warrant said.
The engine was turned off, according to the warrant, with his two young daughters in child seats in the back of the car.
“Numerous customers approached the store manager and advised him of their concern for the children,” the warrant said. “An announcement was made over the intercom, but the accused did not respond.”
According to store surveillance video, the vehicle was parked for 30 minutes by the time Cobb Police officers arrived at the scene.
When paramedics arrived from Metro Ambulance, they said both girls were showing signs of dehydration and were taken to Kennestone Hospital.
“(The girls) were drenched in sweat and their faces were flushed,” the warrant said.
Onate faces two felony charges of cruelty to children in the second degree. He remains in the Cobb Jail and has not been granted bond.
