Officer David Baldwin with Marietta Police said a male juvenile was arrested on multiple charges Thursday after he reportedly called 911 and said that somebody had been shot at Marietta Middle School.

“It was just before 10 a.m.,” Baldwin said Thursday night. “Our first officer got there within 15 to 20 seconds of getting the call.”

Within another minute, eight additional officers were on scene.

The school was immediately placed on lockdown and remained so for about an hour.

“Everything worked like clockwork,” Baldwin said. “We did a thorough search of the school, and after we found out everybody was safe and there were no injuries, we realized it was a hoax.”

Detectives were called to the scene to determine who called in the false report, and by 3:30 p.m., they figured out it was a student on the campus.

This is going to end up getting someone killed one day. Stupid kids calling thinking it's a joke, crying wolf. Doesn't anyone remember what happened to the boy who cried wolf? When he needed help, no one believed him and he was eaten. Same concept. Middle Schoolers know better than to do that, especially with the shootings happening this year.
