Students, libraries can win in sweepstakes
Atlanta — For the third year, Georgia’s Path2College 529 Plan has partnered with the Georgia Public Library Service to offer the Summer Reading Program sweepstakes, Think BIG! Save for College! Parents of children 16 and younger who participate in the Summer Reading Program can enter for a chance to win $5,529 toward a Path2College 529 Plan account.
Georgia public libraries will also have a chance to win a monetary gift for their participation in the Summer Reading Program sweepstakes. The library of the sweepstakes winner will receive $1,529, and the library with the greatest number of sweepstakes entries and the library system with the greatest percentage of registered users entering will each win $1,529.

Man writes song for girl battling leukemia
Smyrna — The stepfather of a young Smyrna girl battling leukemia has written a song for her called “Sometimes You Gotta Fight.”
Ryan Burton’s song was recorded by Canadian artist Vann at the Real 2 Reel Studios in Jonesboro. The song is being sold on iTunes and proceeds benefit CURE Childhood Cancer.
In January, a benefit concert in Smyrna was organized for Callie Cheer after she was diagnosed last September with acute myeloid leukemia, type M7.

Must Ministries dedicates new building
About 100 people gathered at the new Daily Outreach Building on the Elizabeth Inn campus of MUST Ministries to dedicate the new building. The $105,000 facility was built and paid for by the Coalition of Christian Churches, including Episcopal Church of St. Peter and St. Paul , Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, St. Ann’s Catholic Church, St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church and Kennesaw United Methodist Church. The building will serve 865 daily clients in a month, providing clothes, breads and sweets, job counseling, assisting with veteran’s benefits, showers, telephone use and more.
Almost 400 daylilies entered in annual display
The Annual Daylily Show was June 9 at Cobb Galleria. There were 363 daylilies entered in the show sponsored by the Cobb County Daylily Society and the Greater Atlanta Daylily Society. Above: Cynthia and Jack Rigsby were in charge of hospitality for the show.
