Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art to have July art camp

MARIETTA — Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art will have summer art camp July 9 to 27 for children ages 5 to 11. Each week will feature a different theme, including “Master Mash-Up,” “Time Travel” and “The Nature of Art.” Students will exhibit their work in an art show on the last day of each camp. ‘Final score!’ book-signing event Saturday in Marietta

MARIETTA — Marietta resident Dan Farr will be signing copies of his book “Final Score!: Sports Devotions Volume II” on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Barnes & Noble at 3625 Dallas Highway, No. 400. Smyrna Boy Scout troop, member, leader honored

SMYRNA — Boy Scout of America Troop 22 is chartered by Faith United Methodist Church in Smyrna. Scout Sean Taylor attained Eagle Rank at the Covered Bridge District Board of Review on May 17. Scoutmaster Harold Thompson received the “Unit Leader Award of Merit” as nominated by the senior patrol leader and the Troop Parents. Presented with this Award of Merit was a commendation letter by BSA Atlanta Area Council Scout Executive/ CEO Tracy Techau. These honors were presented at the Troop 22 Court of Honor on May 8. A Receipt of Journey to Excellence Gold Award was presented to Troop on May 11 at the Covered Bridge District Roundtable Meeting. This is the highest honor awarded annually by the BSA recognizing top performance of a Boy Scout Troop. This award replaces BSA’s previous “Centennial Quality Awards Program” which Troop 22 has received each year since established in 2005.
