Freddie Lee Nix, 73, of Marietta passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, March 10, 2013, husband to Carol Milner Nix, father to Angela Nix Hester (Jerry), Robert Lee Nix (Deb Katz), Allison Nix Freedman (Lee), step father to Paul Williams (Casey) and Sarah Williams; grandfather to Nicholas, Seth, Alyssa, Addison, Ansley, Ashley, Harrison, Lexi, Ethan, Chloe, Will Hester (Diana); great grandfather to Ivan Hester; and twin brother of Dr. Edward O. Nix (Peter Bryg). A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. Interment will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery. Fred graduated from Marietta High School and Georgia Tech, served as an officer in The Air Force; worked at Lockheed Aeronautical in Marietta and retired from AT&T in Atlanta. He built and refurbished homes as Lee Custom Homes. He loved ski boats and spending time at the lake with family and friends. His greatest joys were his wife, his children and his constant companion, Doodles. Contributions may be made to Cobb County Humane Society, 148 Fairground St., Marietta, GA 30060. Family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
