Fifth Third opens new branch

Fifth Third Bank recently announced the opening of its newest branch office at 2810 Paces Ferry Road Southeast in Vinings. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. The Vinings Financial Center represents Fifth Third Bank's 32nd location in Georgia. Community & Southern Bank acquires four bank offices from Essex Bank

Community & Southern Bank recently announced it has entered into a Purchase and Assumption Agreement with Essex Bank to purchase Essex Bank's Georgia banking franchise, which is comprised of four branches located in Loganville, Snellville, Grayson and Covington. Pursuant to the terms of the Purchase and Assumption Agreement, CSB will acquire approximately $192 million in deposits and no loans. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2013, subject to regulatory approval.

"We are very pleased to welcome these new clients to CSB and, in conjunction with Essex Bank, to provide them uninterrupted banking service," said Pat Frawley, chief executive officer of CSB.

InnovaNet adds staff

Marietta-based InnovaNet Group, a consulting firm with offices at 2500 Dallas Highway, has added Roger Barata and Steve Kaplan to its team as part of an effort to expand into the West Coast.

Barata, who lives near Los Angeles, serves as the director of Operations Enhancement, West Coast. His 30-year career includes expertise in strategic planning, site master planning, lean infrastructure implementation, integrated supply-chain architecture and a host of other services in the petroleum, general manufacturing, aerospace, government, and food and beverage industries.

At InnovaNet, he will help clients take a strategic approach to optimizing their resources and performance.

Kaplan, of San Francisco, has 30 years of experience in the materials industry, including technological innovations that help companies improve financial results. He will provide Innovanet Group clients with technical guidance.CEO Mike Cobb said Barata and Kaplan will upgrade the firm's ability to provide clients with an array of expertise on business growth and development.

Microsoft awards BlueWave

BlueWave Computing of Smyrna was recognized by Microsoft for winning a 2013 East Region SMB Partner Award for Southeast Partner of the Year. The award highlights and recognizes Microsoft partners serving the small and mid-sized business markets who have worked to produce exceptional results across the business. During the 2013 Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Houston, Microsoft's East Region SMB&D General Manager Kim Tubbs-Herron was on-site to acknowledge the award winners.
