Meyers joins Abacus Solutions
 
Abacus Solutions, 1190 Kennestone Circle Northwest in Marietta, announced it is increasing the breadth of its customer-focused cloud solutions and added IT strategist/cloud specialist Aaron Meyers to its executive team.
 
Meyers' role as managing principal of IT Transformation and Cloud Computing will work with CIOs and CEOs on creating business-aligned hybrid cloud strategies and solutions that create the efficiency, flexibility and security to meet the increasing digital demands of today's marketplace.
 
He brings experience in working on transformational IT with companies ranging from entrepreneurial start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. 
 
He worked previously in management roles at Sungard Availability Services, ClickSquared, Bridgewater Associates and Greenwich Technology Partners helping these organizations and their clients scale and transform their IT capabilities enhancing business alignment, improving service levels and enhancing overall IT efficiency.

Hospital names associate of quarter
 
Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna, 3949 South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, selected Justice Haga as the Third Quarter, 2013 Associate of the Quarter. For the past three years, Haga has worked in the Emergency Department as an emergency room technician. Haga, who has worked with the hospital since 2010, is responsible for assisting physicians, nurses and other staff in the Emergency Department. 
 
The Associate of the Quarter program encourages employees to nominate a co-worker who exemplifies the hospital's SHARE principles of sensing a person's needs, helping each other out, acknowledging people's feelings, respecting the dignity and pride of others and explaining what is happening. A finalist is then selected by a committee consisting of administration and past winners. 
 
Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna is a not-for-profit facility operated by Adventist Health System as a joint venture with Emory Healthcare.
 
Welsh named person of the year
 
Kennesaw City Council member Cris Welsh, owner of Eaton Chiropractic, was named Person of the Year by the Kennesaw Business Association during the Dec. 10 luncheon. The annual award, also called the Dr. Frank Boone Award in memory of the much beloved local veterinarian, recognizes the individual who is the best example of the KBA. The award was presented to Welsh by Past President Laura Ann Hart.
 
Welsh was cited for her involvement in the KBA as a member of the Board of Directors and past membership chair. She was also recognized for championing wellness and encouraging family fitness through Kennesaw's Fit City initiative and Kilometer Kids programs.
