“We, more than any other ethnicities in this county, should vote because we’ve paid a higher price to go to the poll,” Cobb NAACP President Deane Bonner said.
The 31st annual Oscar R. Freeman fundraiser will be at the Marietta Hilton Conference Center and Resort, located at 500 Powder Springs St. in Marietta, at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 27.
Nelson Geter, executive director of the Cobb Development Authority, and Mitzi Smith Moore, president of Sundial Plumbing Services, will share hosting duties with Bonner.
Proceeds from the fundraiser ensure education, social and economic equality for all citizens, Moore said.
The Cobb NAACP will also announce this year’s winners of the community service, business, education, elders award and youth achievement awards. This year, the NAACP will give the winner of the youth achievement award a book stipend.
The fundraiser will begin with a reception at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7:30 pm. and the award ceremony at 8:15 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased for $150 from the NAACP offices at 605 Roswell St. in Marietta.
