Mexico City is not a ‘sanctuary city’ for illegals – but Washington D.C. is

If there were only one way to sum up the illegal immigration crisis in the United States, the people who run the government in the nation’s Capital may have found it: Washington D.C., where our laws are made, where there the words “Equal Justice Under Law” are displayed over the Supreme Court Building and where the Chief Executive of the Republic resides … is now a sanctuary city for illegal aliens.

Read it and weep. This from the Website of NumbersUSA in Washington, from multiple news sources:

The District of Columbia became a sanctuary city on Wednesday after Mayor Vincent Gray signed a new order forbidding D.C. police to ask about an individuals immigration status.

Furthermore, Mayor Gray said District police will not help Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents execute federal warrants unless the individual has committed another crime.

The new order also forbids D.C. police from contacting Immigration and Customs Enforcement to inquire about an individual's immigration status.

“Law enforcement agencies that honor ICE detainers help protect public safety,” ICE spokeswoman Cori W. Bassett said.

For future lawbreakers, Mayor Gray and Police Chief Cathy Lanier say it will be up to the FBI and ICE to decide on whether to check a detainees immigration status. However, D.C. police don't fingerprint offenders of less serious crimes, which will prevent the FBI and ICE from checking individuals charged with minor crimes.

Should an individual jailed by the D.C. police be suspected by ICE as an illegal alien, ICE will have 48 hours, excluding holidays and weekends, to pick up the suspect. The new city policy prevents detaining a suspected illegal alien for more than 48 hours.

You may want to refrain from asking “who’s country is it anyway?” The answer might not be one you can bear to hear.

For those who may be wondering: No, Mexico City is not a sanctuary city for illegal aliens. And Mexico quite logically enforces it’s immigration laws. In part, they go like this:

• Mexico welcomes only foreigners who will be useful to Mexican society:

- Foreigners are admitted into Mexico “according to their possibilities of contributing to national progress.” (Article 32)

- Immigration officials must “ensure” that “immigrants will be useful elements for the country and that they have the necessary funds for their sustenance” and for their dependents. (Article 34)

- Foreigners may be barred from the country if their presence upsets “the equilibrium of the national demographics,” when foreigners are deemed detrimental to “economic or national interests,” when they do not behave like good citizens in their own country, when they have broken Mexican laws, and when “they are not found to be physically or mentally healthy.” (Article 37)

- The Secretary of Governance may “suspend or prohibit the admission of foreigners when he determines it to be in the national interest.” (Article 38)

• Mexican authorities must keep track of every single person in the country:

- Federal, local and municipal police must cooperate with federal immigration authorities upon request, i.e., to assist in the arrests of illegal immigrants. (Article 73)

- A National Population Registry keeps track of “every single individual who comprises the population of the country,” and verifies each individual’s identity. (Articles 85 and 86)

- A national Catalog of Foreigners tracks foreign tourists and immigrants (Article 87), and assigns each individual with a unique tracking number (Article 91).

• Foreigners with fake papers, or who enter the country under false pretenses, may be imprisoned:

- Foreigners with fake immigration papers may be fined or imprisoned. (Article 116)

- Foreigners who sign government documents “with a signature that is false or different from that which he normally uses” are subject to fine and imprisonment. (Article 116)

• Foreigners who fail to obey the rules will be fined, deported, and/or imprisoned as felons:

- Foreigners who fail to obey a deportation order are to be punished. (Article 117)

- Foreigners who are deported from Mexico and attempt to re-enter the country without authorization can be imprisoned for up to 10 years. (Article 118)

- Foreigners who violate the terms of their visa may be sentenced to up to six years in prison (Articles 119, 120 and 121). Foreigners who misrepresent the terms of their visa while in Mexico — such as working with out a permit — can also be imprisoned.

You can read more of these obviously draconian laws - in English - read here if you want.

They seem to make a lot of sense. Did I mention they are enforced?

Not enforcing immigration laws when driving while Hispanic is racist.

Enforcing traffic laws against citizens and not illegal aliens is racist.

Separate scholarships and legal assistance only for Hispanic lawbreakers is racist.

Hiring special teachers only to teach Hispanics is racist.

Having signs in stores in Spanish is racist.

Having to push 1 for English and 2 for Spanish is racist.

Seeing only Hispanic workers on road projects in Georgia is racist.

@Frank Peterson - Mr. Peterson, the Republican establishment is not your friend either. When they had a majority in Congress under George Bush, they tried to pass amnesty. You need to know that we have to get rid of Chambliss and Isakson as well, they worked with McCain and Kennedy for amnesty.

The Chamber of Commerce members are traitors, as well as most politicians. This happened under their watch and we need to send them a strong message in 2012. We need good people to run against them who will do something for taxpayers and citizens on this issue or our country will soon look like Mexico - filthy and lawless.

Either Herman Cain or Michelle Bachman for President and complete turnover in Congress. Demand term limits, they should not be there for more than 2 terms.

What solace this must bring to the parents of Chandra Levy. It was this city that released the illegal alien from custody who, later, was charged with the death of their daughter.

When those most entrusted to uphold and enforce our laws are the same most guilty of violating them it is time to terminate them and then prosecute them.

As it was with Chandra Levy, any harm that befalls an American as the result of an illegal alien ensures the victims' blood being all over the hands of corrupt officials such as Gray and Lanier. It is past the time Americans stand up and purge our offices of corrupted elected/appointed officials along with the illegal aliens they aid and abet.

Americans are allowing this. Americans should have been in the streets by the Millions, when Millions of Illegal Mexican Aliens marched through our streets. There were none. Same thing with Obama's backdoor Dream Act. Now this and still, quiet in the American suburbs, American cities and our American streets. We ourselves, are committing suicide, with apathy. We are pretty much dead, while Illegals thrive.

Just how many months or years do we have left to play games with the illegal alien lobby? We can no longer risk our immigration enforcement and border security to the likes of a Perry, a Romney, a Paul, nor a Gingrich. Michele Bachmann has never flinched on illegal immigration throughout this primary campaign but pollees appear to be hellbent on sticking us with yet another RINO. If your sick of expressing your anger on web blogs and want something done about the ever-threatening pro-illegal mafia, you'd better get behind the right person for 2012. We now longer can afford the luxury of "experimenting."

The White House is occupied by an illegal alien, and it is surrounded by a fence and armed guards. What hope do we have out here living in and alongside the barrios which were once beautiful neighborhoods.

Tell Rick Perry - those Mexicans have no heart, but a whole lot of hypocrisy.

Is there anyway the mayor and his illegal loving gang members can be recalled? All this is going to do is make the unemployment of the poverty stricken black population of DC worse. From photos I have seen of DC there is large areas that are slums. The wealthy and upper middle class have their own areas they live in and never see the poverty all around them.

I have a good idea that if we rewrote US immigration laws to match word for word with Mexico's they would still scream racist.
