MARIETTA — A Cobb County man was found dead in his apartment with apparent gunshot wounds Friday, police said.

Cobb Police Precinct 4 officers found Brandon Brazil, 30, dead in his unit at the Sedgefield Apartments, 1136 West Commons Lane, just northeast of Marietta, Cobb Police spokesman Officer Mike Bowman said. They had been dispatched to the location to investigate reports of gunshots at 10:46 p.m. Friday.

Bowman said police have no information on a suspect.

“It’s a whodunit,” he said.

The Cobb Police Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating the homicide. Anyone with information is asked to call (770) 499-3945.

This is not the first time police have investigated a violent crime at Sedgefield Apartments. They found Ladonna Stallings, 23, dead there in September 2010 in an apparent murder-suicide. They believed she was killed by a man who later committed suicide in a vehicle in West Columbia, S.C.

In December 2005, a resident at Sedgefield found George Ellis Jennings, 40, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound on the ground near one of the buildings in the apartment complex. He was taken to a hospital where he later died as a result of his injury.

In November of that same year, a man was critically injured after he was thrown from a third-story window at the complex. Police said he was the victim of a home invasion and armed robbery.

Sean Murphy, if you spent a 10th amount of time making Smyrna Heights more than a slum, as you do chasing me around to please your bud, the mayor,.. then Smyrna Heights might possibly rid itself of the rif raf that is spreading.

If you aren't bright enough to see Smyrna is using you as a willing 'village idiot', my friend,..then I've got a property to sell you in on Oakview.

Located a few short blocks from the Smyrnas claim to fame, the vacant Market Village, where you may choose between Atkins Park , a taco joint & a pizza joint.

Friendly neighbors that work for the city, yet never communicate w/ anyone in the 'hood'. Most houses look just like when they were built in the 50's. No landscaping , no paint, no additions.

Same goes for the neighborhood park that the city refuses to update.

Eagerly awaiting the opening of the school for 'behavior' problems.

It will blend nice in a neighborhood that has shops, no stores, no cafes, no trees, no trails, nothing pretty.

Sedgefield apartment complex is becoming another area like Franklin road. Tear it down and build a park to stop crime.

MDJ,

Please start a police blotter .

Smyrna won't run a police blotter, like Roswell , Sandy Springs & Decatur. Smyrna hides its' reality & paints a false perception of their corrupt little city.

Crime is definitely up in Smyrna, Marietta & south Cobb.

Including Smyrna's 2 December murders, I can count 8 so far.

Get your facts straight. This incident is just down the street from your beloved Roswell. The police department does run on blotter. It's right there on their website with an interactive map for anyone to look at

Why don't you go use it and printout some facts to show you radical assertion that crime is up?
