A Kennesaw man was arrested after fighting with police officers during a traffic stop.

Robert Shamon Paynes was charged with felony obstruction after he allegedly attempted to flee from police when they were trying to arrest him March 16 on DUI charges on Shiloh Drive in Kennesaw.

According to an arrest warrant, Paynes tried to get free while being handcuffed and knocked an officer to the ground. After fleeing into the woods, Paynes and officers struggled again, and he was shocked with a Taser.

Paynes was arrested and charged with felony obstruction and several misdemeanors, including DUI child endangerment because one of his passengers in the car was a 7-year-old.

Paynes was released on a $5,000 bond.
