Helen Kemp Metts, age 88, of Marietta, GA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2014.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 10th at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home on Church Street in Marietta, with Rev. Barry Lancaster officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm before service begins. Helen was born on May 14, 1925 in Powder Springs, GA to Harry Kemp and Effie Turner Kemp, both deceased. She was also predeceased by her husband, Sam Metts and her brother, E.W. Kemp. She is survived by her son Jerry Foxworth and Joyce Brannock of Delta, AL; son Gary Foxworth and daughter–in-law Sue Foxworth of Kennesaw; sister and brother- in- law, Betty and Wayne Abernathy of Dawsonville; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Marina Kemp of Douglasville; stepson Wayne Metts and stepdaughter Linda Metts. Helen graduated from McEachern High School in 1943. She worked for Cobb EMC for thirty plus years until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of Midway Presbyterian Church in her youth and adulthood where she taught Sunday School. Later in life Helen became a member of Maple Avenue United Methodist Church. She loved to crochet, enjoyed gardening and flowers, and going to the mountains. She was a kind and gentle soul who was loved by all who knew her. She will be missed terribly, but our loss is Heaven’s gain. Contributions may be made to Calvary Children’s Home, 1430 Lost Mountain Rd, Powder Springs, GA 30127.
