Twain Harte resident Charles Malcolm McCurdy, age 77, passed away on April 17, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, CA. Mr. McCurdy was born in Marietta, GA, to Laura Mae Blankenship and William Malcolm McCurdy. He played football at Marietta High School, and studied finance at the University of Georgia. He worked most of his life for Lockheed Martin in Georgia and then California. His final project before retirement at age 55 was on the Hubble Space Telescope. He then relocated to Twain Harte, CA, where he enjoyed hiking, fishing and the companionship of his black Labradors. In his later years, he enjoyed playing cribbage with friends and family. Mr. McCurdy is survived by his five children: Michael McCurdy, Megan Krcik, Alicia Hinton, Derek McCurdy and Dana McCurdy; his two sons-in-law Paul Krcik and Bill Hinton; his daughter-in-law Debra McCurdy; his grandchildren Phillip McCurdy, Christopher McCurdy, Jessica Krcik, and Kathryn McCurdy. He is also survived by his brother William Carlton McCurdy, sister-in-law Joyce McCurdy, and nieces and nephews Cathy McCurdy, Chuck McCurdy, Larry McCurdy, and MaryBeth Saylor. He was preceded in death by his parents. Charles was well known for his generous heart, passion for music and sports, and memorable southern sayings. “The big possum walks late.” At this time, no services are planned for Mr. McCurdy.
