James Gregory “Greg” Marler, age 57, of Marietta, Ga. passed away on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with the Rev. Alan Thames officiating. A lifelong resident of Cobb County, Mr. Marler was a graduate of Wheeler High School. He retired from the City of Marietta’s Electrical Department after 31 years of employment, and for the last seven years has worked for MAEG Power Company as a Safety and Training Officer. Survivors include wife, Gwen Marler; two children, Brandon and Whitney Marler; parents, Earl and Lois Marler, Marietta, Ga.; five siblings: Mike Marler, Richard Marler, Rob Marler, Teresa Cuba and Doug Marler, all of Marietta, Ga. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Online guest book at  westcobbfuneralhome.com.

Out of all the men I worked for at the City of Marietta in the electrical department, Greg Marler was the best. Even though I only met his wife Gwen once, I feel her hurt. I wish their family the best. I know Greg will always be there with you because that is the kind of man he was, he would never leave anyone behind.
