Loyalty to country part of Islam

DEAR EDITOR:

My heart goes out to the victims of Boston bombing. My prayers are with them and I understand that no amount of feelings of sorrow on my part will bring comfort to those who lost their loved ones or got seriously injured.

But I also feel that I should not be defending my faith, Islam, when some deranged people decide to kill the innocents in its name. They have nothing to do with me and all the peace-loving Muslims who live in America as loyal citizens.

Islam teaches me that loyalty to one’s country is part of the faith.

In the Holy Quran God says “If you kill a single human being it is as you have killed all humanity.”

Killing is a grave sin. God permitted no one to kill in His name.

Mr. Rehman, You are among 99.99% of the 6 million Muslims in America who condemn Islamic terrorism just like 99.99% of all Christians in America condemned Christian terrorist Eric Rudolph's murderous bombings of Olympic Park and the Birmingham abortion clinic.

As President George W. Bush said days after the 9-11 attacks, "Islam is peace."

The one thing the deranged people do have in common with you is that they read the same book as you.

Sir, my ancestors saw the inherent evil and intolerance in their version of Christianity back in the 1600s and decided to flee to the New World where they embraced tolerance, peaceful ways and their new country. They created a new form of their faith and distanced themselves from the old version. Had they had the tools available to them that we have today, Internet, etc, they'd likely have spoken against what they fled and done their darndest to make sure none of it "got on them." We cannot know what is in your heart, but I believe most Americans would like to believe you really care about our country. It's really, really sad that so many who embrace Islam do want to bomb, maim and kill infidels. Who has the answer? But until we speak truth, which includes the fact that so many of your fellow Muslims do approve of violence in furthering your religion, we'll never get anywhere. So we will acknowledge what YOU bring from the Koran, but that does not mean we'll give quarter to those who choose to hear the other verses. Lie to infidels, convert or kill them, spread sharia. You and those peace-loving Muslims like you must denounce the honor killings, the maiming of innocents, the attempts at imposing blasphemy laws in our land of free speech. Your church must be reformed and brought into this century. You show us something like that, and we might have hope of co-existing in the future with some amount of trust.

Well said Sam

Until the Muslim communities step up to denounce killing in the name of Allah and force the radical hate spewing imam's from their places of power and start reporting planned attacks instead turning a blind eye then the Christian world will have to continue to distrust many because of a radical sect of haters.
Too funny

Sam, are you talking about the pious Puritans of New England who hung for heresy, the pious Quakers of New England?

Thank you Sir, for your kindness towards my letter

and my sentiment. I truly appreciate it. I want to assure you the Islam that I practice and so many of others like me (10 milion to be exact), member of my Ahmadiyya Muslim community. Will defend this country with our lives against all those who wish to harm it, if need be.

I would also like to say thank you to MDJ for letting my voice heard.

"...flee to the New World where they embraced tolerance, peaceful ways and their new country."

Oh, really? Tell that to the native American populations mercilessly conquered and eradicated by your ancestors.
