The Junior League of Cobb-Marietta prepared for the coming year by announcing its 2012–13 Board of Directors that includes Allison Carter, president; Renae Meyer, president-elect; Lindsey Carrigan, vice president of administration; Samantha Johnson, vice president of community; Elizabeth Smith Williams, vice president of finance; Lee Freeman, vice president of membership; Martha Lee Sanders, sustainer director; Courtney Cofield, nominating chair and Amber Harris, treasurer.

This group will lead the JLCM for its 80th year with a continued focus on family and children safety and education.

Angela Adkisson and Dr. Dale Adkisson, of Marietta, are the proud parents of not one but two recent Ivy League graduates. Their daughter, Haley, earned a master’s degree in social work from Columbia University in New York. Their son, Kevin, graduated from Yale with a degree in architecture. Kevin, as senior class president of the 1,250 graduates, presided over his graduation event, sharing the stage with graduation speaker Barbara Walters.

Actually we should call Kevin the class “Secretary’ since that’s been the traditional title at Yale for more than 300 years. And yes — Angela reports the “tables down at Mory’s’ are still there for the Elis.”

The Pink Suitcase Sisters have been living out of their suitcases lately and won’t be putting their luggage up anytime soon. This spring, the ladies traveled to Charleston, S.C., for the Home and Garden tour.

Traci Hildreth and her daughter, Brittany Campbell, enjoyed a fabulous time along with Becky Appleton, Susan Appleton, Patsy Bennett, Karen Blackwood, Karen DeRuyter, Laurie Kavanaugh, Suzanne Payne, Jenny Tidman and Marjorie Wilson.

Soon after the Charleston getaway, the ladies hopped another plane to Santa Fe. Other than the heat wave that hit New Mexico that week, the tour proved a fantastic time. Kathy Lowery escorted Margaret Adam, Becky Appleton, Juanette Anderson, Charlene Eubanks, Anita Grice, Jean Gysin, Ginny Haddock, Karen Kirkpatrick, Melissa Paulette, Suzanne Payne, Kay Nelson, Jill Sinclair, Karen Spears and her daughter, Robin, and Kathy Sullivan.

The ladies will visit Seattle, Portland, New York, and Key West before the year’s end. To learn more about the group, visit www.pinksuitcasesisters.com and Facebook at www.facebook.com/pages/Pink-Suitcase-Sisters.
