KENNESAW — Rebecca Nolin, an assistant women’s soccer coach at Kennesaw State and a former Owls player, was hired Wednesday as the new head coach at Valdosta State.
Nolin served four years on the coaching staff of longtime Kennesaw State coach Rob King. She played for King from 2003-06.
As a player at Kennesaw State, Nolin was a four-year letter-winner and scored 16 career goals, four of which were game-winners, along with 11 assists. As a freshman, she was a part of the Owls’ 2003 NCAA Division II national championship team.
Nolin later made the transition to the professional ranks with the Atlanta Silverbacks of the United Soccer League from 2007-09 before joining Women’s Professional Soccer’s Atlanta Beat for their inaugural season in 2010. She made history May 29, 2010, scoring the first goal at what is now Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
Nolin will be joining a Valdosta State team that went 9-5-3 last fall and qualified for the Division II regional tournament.
