Icy road conditions sent a tractor trailer and another car off the road on Interstate 20 in Atlanta on Friday.
According to police, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-20 near the Langhorn Street exit. They say a woman in an SUV slid on ice and went off the road into a wooded area. She was shaken, but not injured.
A tractor trailer also slid on the ice, and was able to pull over.
The Georgia Department of Transportation spokesperson Teri Pope says western side of Atlanta, along with the northwest side, appear to be the most affected by icy conditions.
Pope is urging motorists to be cautious on the roadways. She says there is patchy black ice all over the metro area, and that motorists should slow down and allow more space between cars.
She says GDOT crews are out checking bridges and overpasses, spreading salt and stone, and scraping roadways of ice. Pope urges anyone who sees icy conditions to call 511.
