With respect to the IMAGE implementation, it would appear that both Chairman Lee and Commissioner Goreham are more concerned with ensuring their Chamber of Commerce friends have a labor supply — legal or illegal — than they are with implementing the law of the land. Commissioner Lisa Cupid, just having come aboard, is clueless; as usual, Commissioners Bob Ott and JoAnn Birrell are the only two exercising any common sense and trying to adhere to the law.
Every single objection raised by the Lee/Goreham/Cupid triumvirate is merely a solution going in search of a problem.
Requiring workers, whether they’re working on a government project or not, to be legally empowered to work shouldn’t be a concept which requires a great deal of thought — unless, of course, one is trying to circumvent existing law by obfuscation and the tactics of delay.
