Jerrie Brown Griggs, 72, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away on July 10, 2013. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12 at 11AM at Acworth First Baptist Church. Dr. David Joyner of Acworth First Baptist and Reverend Bill Abbott will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11 at Collins Funeral Home in Acworth from 5PM-8PM. Burial will follow the funeral at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth. Jerrie was born in Marietta on March 27, 1941. She graduated from North Cobb High School and continued on to receive degrees from Georgia Southern and the University of Georgia. Jerrie was married to Reginald Lamar Griggs on December 19, 1964; they were married 48 years. Jerrie was a long-time educator with a 31 year career at the Cobb County Board of Education. She retired in 1995 as the Assistant Superintendent for Special Student Services. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandson, Caden. She was also actively involved as a member of the Acworth First Baptist Church. Jerrie is survived by her husband, Lamar; daughter, Shannon Stifter and son-in-law Eric Stifter; grandson, Caden Stifter; sister, Barbara Brown; brother Pete Brown and sister-in-law Ann Brown; niece and nephew Alicia Goodwin and Jason Brown and their families as well as her close circle of lifelong friends.
