MSGT David Wallace Gibson Sr., age 67, of Powder Springs, passed away on Saturday, July 20. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with the Rev. Grant Cole officiating. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park with full military honors. A native of Chattanooga, Tenn., Mr. Gibson moved to Cobb County 27 years ago. After graduation from Ooltewah High School, he served in the United States Air Force, retiring after over 20 years of service. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Troy State University in Alabama, and was a member of Connection Pointe Church of God in Austell. Mr. Gibson also loved to play golf and go fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Virginia Gibson and his brother, Ray Gibson. Survivors include: wife of 46 years, Patsy Loy Gibson, Powder Springs, Ga.; two children, David (Elizabeth) Gibson, Jr., Kennesaw, Ga., and Penny (Kevin) Mathis, Kennesaw, Ga.; three siblings, Randy Gibson, Oak Ridge, Tenn., Steve Gibson, Chattanooga, Tenn., Ginny Rodrigue, Gretna, La.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
