Foley proved facts don’t matter

DEAR EDITOR:

I am a proud member and leader of a local tea party group. I recently read an MDJ guest column written by Kevin Foley (“West plays ‘Red’ card to hide record” ) in which he attacks U.S. Rep. Allen West as a tea partyer and curiously quotes Benjamin Franklin — wildly unrelated to his diatribe and completely out of context (“We must hang together, gentlemen, else we shall most assuredly hang separately”...what?)

More from Foley in the MDJ: “Tea partyers like West are failing because they see modern America in monochrome. The country has changed since the Constitution was written, yet tea partyers long for the days of when a man — and only a white man — could do as he pleased, however he pleased.”

Race-baiting aside, I don’t think Foley realizes that West is a black American. Could somebody at the newspaper please inform him of that? Neither do I think it would matter to Foley once he gets himself going at painting concerned Americans who do not subscribe to his liberal agenda as intolerant racists. This is a timeless example of the arrogant and facts-matter-not liberal attitude.

Kevin Foley. I am black. West is black. You are dim and still cannot answer Jan Barton's note that you didn't know West was black when you started the race-baiting anti Tea Party "white men only..." empty-headed rant that is hilarious. The fact that you post on our own posts is also amusing!

I read a Kevin Foley column once and quickly determined that his opinions, no matter the subject, were likely going to be completely worthless.

I haven't wasted my time reading one since.

However, after seeing this letter I went back and read the column that was referenced.

Same conclusion. Worthless drivel.

Errr, cravin, there is no censorship, since this is a privately owned site. Strongly suggest you start your own forum, if you are that unhappy.

agreed. They don't like to print effective opposition, and won't print it sometimes. And links to the web are forbidden but its their paper.

Mr or MS Barton,

I just think you're unused to reading well-reasoned and supported arguments.

You and your sad little TP don't even know you're being used by the billionaire Koch brothers-funded Freedomworks, which has harnessed your hate of Obama so you'll vote against your own best interests. One of the most hilarious viral videos on Youtube is the one of tea partiers trying to explain why they're against ACA.

There's no denying West is desperate. He's done nothing in Congress (that might be a TP's definition of achievement) so he now thinks he's Tail Gunner Joe McCarthy. Good luck with that.

Just like a liberal. Raising red herring arguments when you debate him with facts. All he does is look down upon you with his conceited attitude. He thinks we're too stupid to think for ourselves. Sorry Charlie that's not the way it works. Read the constitution and maybe you'll garner a better understanding of the principles we stand for.

@Kevin Foley

What are you trying to say? You accuse others of exactly what you and your leftist ilk do continually, which is psychobabble with no facts to back up anything you say. You do know who George Soros is now, don't you? He is a billionaire radical leftist who uses people like you. Have you gotten over your hatred of Bush yet? The definition of desperation is a leftist who says nothing of substance but believes government can always solve any problem. So Mr Foley, what military service did YOU serve in, since you are so quick to call Colonel West names. You can always tell when a liberal has lost the argument, since they always resort to name calling. You offer nothing of substance Mr Foley, and never have.

???? USED? If you want to talk about "using" MAYBE George Soros should be mentioned...ONE thing you fail to see in your short sightedness. Once the "Progressives" have attained their agenda, they have NO USE for you anymore...You are WORTHLESS to them. Put THAT in your pipe and smoke it, instead of the dope you are smoking now--It is easier on your brain!

Barton and the posts below fail to address my central argument, that West told his constituents - and this is on videotape - that he knows of 78 to 81 Communist Party members in Congress. This is a bald faced lie. Why would he tell it? I speculated in my original op-ed that he has nothing else to offer voters because he's done nothing in Congress.

As for what the tea party yearns for, I merely repeat what I've heard from Freedomworks, the front group that created this phony "movement" five minutes after Obama took office. You want to go back to the time when people wore tricorn hats and freedom was reserved for a select few. Read your history.

Well said, Jan Barton. The progressive left always resorts to race baiting when they have no point(s) to make. In this case, Mr. Foley, obviously shows his true colors and ignorance. As you stated so well, Mr. Foley's reference to Benjamin Franklin wasn't relevant to his post. Rep. Allan West is a man who loves this country.....pure and simple!!

@Jan Barton,

Thank you for speaking up about Foley's lack of knowledge re: Allan West.In particular, referencing the fact that Foley is a race-baiting.That fits in with his other Marxist beliefs. It is a shame when a (supposed) intelligent person is so wrapped up in an ideology that all he can do is accuse everyone else of the same problem.

My observations are he sits by his computer ad waits for something written by Dr. Fein or D A King. Then he pounces , pulling the same old, tired arguments out. He accomplishes little except to , occasionally raise the hair on the back of a conservative's neck because of the lack of any thing new in his arguments.

Generations of Americans have fought for and many have died for a set of unique American values that Foley disputes in each of his letters.

I believe the MDJ has granted him Guest Columnist status so that conservative freedom thinking Cobb County subscribers can see the mindset of the Marxist chauvinistic followers.

You don't think Foley realizes that West is a black American? Well said Ms. Barton! You can add that to a whole boatload of things of which Foley is unaware. In fact, I marvel, at times, that he was able to find his way out of the birth canal.

He didn't do that. It was the government and bridges that got him out of the birth canal.

Foley is not fit to lace up the combat boots of Colonel West. West is a genuine American hero. At the top of Foley's hero list is the great divider-in-chief Obama.

Excuse me, Sgt Half Ass. @Devlin Adams notes that Mr. Foley doesn't know that West is black. He does know that West is black. The problem is that WEST doesn't know he's black. But I live in West's district and I know that that pig is a war criminal. He didn't leave the Army because he wanted to. He left because he would have been otherwise court martialed.

He has nothing to offer the citizens of this country. He only holds office to serve corporate interests.

He got into office because he was funded by the Koch brothers. That makes him a Koch sucker.

@Willy Brandt -Google this information:

"The case stems from an incident August 20 at a military base in Taji, just north of Baghdad, when West was interrogating an Iraqi policeman, who was believed to have information about a plot to assassinate West with an ambush on a U.S. convoy.

In testimony at an Article 32 hearing -- the military's version of a grand jury or preliminary hearing -- West said the policeman, Yahya Jhrodi Hamoody, was not cooperating with interrogators, so he watched four of his soldiers from the 220th Field Artillery Battalion beat the detainee on the head and body.

West said he also threatened to kill Hamoody. Military prosecutors say West followed up on that threat by taking the suspect outside, put him on the ground near a weapons clearing barrel and fired his 9 mm pistol into the barrel.

Apparently not knowing where West's gun was aimed, Hamoody cracked and gave information about the planned ambush on West's convoy, thwarting the attack." It was later proven that the Iraqi policeman made the story up to save himself. There was NEVER any evidence that an attack was actually planed.

Just Google "Allen West war criminal". Do your own homework. It's not hard to do.

West was the victim of trumped up false charges in the incident you mention. He was falsely accused by a civilian left wing nut case who was envious of West. West was found completely innocent of all allegations. Of course, all the far left wing radical web sites, like Daily Kos, fail to report the fact that West was found completely innocent of all the trumped up charges. So typical of the left, never to report the whole story. Playing foot loose and fancy free with the facts, aren't you Cravin? You must have worked for Dan Rather on the Bush national guard story, LOL.

As a suggestion Mr Moorehead, you should avoid limiting your sources of news to extremist radical publications such as The Daily Kos Kids and the Huffington Puffington Post. Publications such as these report news from biased left-wing sources, such as MSNBC. Better that you get your news from truthful middle-of-the road fair and balanced sources, such as Fox News.

@Willy Brandt - You are the classic republican. He was not, as you claim, found innocent of charges. The fact is that West was drummed out of the service in the face of being charged and being sent to prison. Did you notice that he now wares civilian clothes? Can't you republicans ever own up and take responsibility?

The claim that you made stating that the charges were trumped up don't hold water, and YOU made that up. The thing that republicans hate most are facts.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. All that is left of the republican party are the very, very rich and those stupid enough to vote republican and against their own best interests.

Congratulations on your enormous wealth.

Oh pulleeeze Mr cravin, you clearly demonstrate that you do not comprehend the military justice system, its customs or regulations. Colonel west is now RETIRED from the military, which is why he no longer wears a uniform. Drummed out? What is that? No such legal remedy exists in the U.S. military. You are in denial mr cravin. People like you on the radical left can never seem to comprehend our American military. Colonel West was exonerated of all the false charges brought against him. He then won an overwhelming victory election to Congress, which served to further enrage his left-wing detractors. The one thing that liberals despise are black Americans who do not need government assistance to be successful. Colonel West embodies a self made successful man. He is an American hero, a role model, and not enough good can be said about him. Facts? Oh yes, liberals cannot handle facts, you got that right.

@ cravin moorehead ...

YOU need to do YOUR homework - as you obviously haven't got a clue.

LTC West did not 'leave the Army to avoid a court-martial'. THe Army reduced the incident to an Article 15 proceeding (known as Non-Judicial Punishment) where West was found to have violated Articles 128 & 134. However, he was NOT convicted of anything, or else he would not have been allowed o retire. A conviction would have stripped him of any/all benefits.

Of course, you'll respond that it was an Army cover-up (ha ha!)

Your continuous use of inflammatory and denigrating name-calling only shows that you get your 'talking points' from the left-leaning media and cannot form your own thoughts.

Please do your OWN research and perhaps you'll learn the truth - not what someone else wants you to think.
