N.E. COBB — The Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna narcotics unit seized 6,800 pounds of suspected marijuana — with an estimated street value of $30 million — from a rental house on Alberta Drive on Sunday. Two men were arrested at the scene, which is off Holly Springs Road near Post Oak Tritt Road, in northeast Cobb.

“This is probably one of the largest seizures ever made in Cobb County,” Sheriff Neil Warren said in a statement.

Jesus Alfredo Sarabia, 38, remains in Cobb Jail without bond on felony drug-trafficking charges. There is also an immigration hold on his release. Jail records indicate he was born in Mexico.

Oswaldo Ojeda Ramos, 28, is also held without bond on the same charge. He was born in California, according to jail records.

The Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna (MCS) Narcotics Unit, which was formed in 1980, is a multijurisdictional task force with members from the Cobb Sheriff’s Office and police from the county and the cities of Marietta, Smyrna, Acworth, Kennesaw and Powder Springs. Investigators from the Cobb District Attorney and Solicitor General’s Office are also part of the task force.

Col. Milton Beck of the sheriff’s office said the drugs had a street value of about $30 million.

Do the counties , cities and jurisdictions KEEP the millions confiscated?

This article doesn't report if a large amount of cash was seized, or how much, as is typical in these huge cartel busts!

Isn't there a real incentive to foster the drug trade?

Yes indeed. Jurisdictions keep the cash...it goes towards task force vehicles and the general fund. As for the dope? Its stored in a vault until incinerated.

Thanks Mexico for sending us all your trash Jesus Alfredo Sarabia, 38 (model citizens). Just like Cuba's Castro dumping all his mentally insane and criminals on Miami. We need to get control of this illegal immigration issue.

"Trash"??? More like CAPITALISTS! Ignoring the insane Government prohibition, these brave patriots started a business! Managed customer bases, managed inventory and supply, managed demand, all without any government help at all!

We should be rewarding these Capitalists for showing Americans how to start a business without government help, not locking them up...

One illegal, one anchor baby. This the culture of Mexican border jumpers and the many children they produce.

Reply to Pat H. Your comment about one illegal and one anchor baby. The anchor baby is not a citizen. Wouldn't matter if he was born on the steps of the Whitehouse. Read Elk v Wilkins 1884. It's not just the many children they produce. It's the MILLIONS they produce. Their relgion fobids birth control.

Yes, the only thing the Mexican immigrants want to do is come here and grow marijuana and have a bunch of babies. Note my sarcasm. This is an unfortunate situation that just happens to involve Hispanics; this should not discredit the millions of immigrants (Mexican and otherwise) who come here to find work so they can support their impoverished families back home. Get a clue.

Reply to Lucky American Until all the illegal aliens go home and organize all the impoverished Mexican people and march on Mexico City and demand that their government do whatever it takes to create jobs for all their citizens, the impoverished people will stay that way. Mexicans can have the Mexican Dream in their own country if they will organize and demand it and do not take no for an answer, All the Latino leaders and Latino job creators go home and organize the people and make it happen. Tell that government you've been shut out for hundreds of years and you are not going to take it anymore. Have your Mexican Spring.

And not a PEEP about this huge mexican drug cartel bust on any of the local biased media TV news.

This week conservative am radio 640WGST changed its format to SPANISH SPORTS TALK!

There is a New World Order taking root, while Americans remain sleep!

Right on American in Cobb! Get rid of every last illegal alien and every last criminal greencard. Build the fence, clean out all the jails and prisons and send all the criminals, legal and illegal, home with their families.

They must base their figures off of the DEA's funky math. The person at DEA who came up with those statistics must have been smoking something funny, too.

Damn!! The only folks getting rich in Cobb County, are either drug traffikers or government contracted road engineers!!

Both , dishonest occupations!
