Marietta-based Emerald Data Solutions Inc., developer of BoardDocs paperless meeting solutions, announced that Clark Merkley has joined the company as chief operating officer. This is a new position, created to fill needs due to the company’s continuous growth.

Merkley brings to the company his proven experience as a corporate attorney, insurance professional, human resources executive and president of Employer Solutions Group that won multiple Alfred Sloan Awards for Business Excellence and “Best Companies to Work For.”

He has been an elected school board member for the School District of Kettle Moraine in Wisconsin, as well as a teacher and human resources executive for Nebo School District in Utah. Most recently, he was senior vice president with Leavitt Group Insurance Advisors, primarily responsible for the production of new middle-market commercial insurance business and human resources. Merkley also worked as the deputy human resources director for Utah County Government.

Emerald Data Solutions, named one of the fastest growing private businesses in the nation on Inc. Magazine’s 500/5000 list three years running, is 100-percent employee-owned and has been providing technology solutions to public and private organizations since 1989. Some past clients have included the State of Georgia, BellSouth and Turner Broadcasting. Currently, Emerald Data Solutions is exclusively dedicated to the development and delivery of BoardDocs paperless governance services which was developed with and for the Marietta City School System.
