James C. “Jim” Davis, 93, a native Atlanta resident of West End died Monday, November 25, 2013. He graduated from Boys High School-class of 1938. He served in U. S. Army during WWII as an instructor of then Secret Radar Operations. Following radar, he was assigned to the Armed Forces Radio Service, and built and operated AFRS stations in India. During the war years he met his “perfect fit” wife for the next 65+ years, Marie Minckler. Upon separation from service in 1946 he joined DELTA Airlines in Atlanta as an Airways Radio Tech. He was fortunate to become involved in every Communications Endeavor that presented itself. He retired as a SIMULATOR Supervisor after nearly 38 years of service. Mr. Davis was long active in the Boy Scout Movement West End Baptist Church; member of Boys High Alumni Association; and Charter Member of “DELTA PIONEERS”. Mr. Davis retired to Cobb County in 1986. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65½ years, Marie Minckler Davis. He is survived by his son, Warren Scott Davis (wife Pat). A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 5th at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Joey Hatchell officiating.
