Jim and Brittany Roberts welcomed twin boys into their family on New Year’s Day. Here, they hold Gage Cooper as Jasper Peyton rests in intensive care.
Jim and Brittany Roberts of Douglasville welcomed a second set of twin boys into the world early Tuesday morning at WellStar Cobb Hospital in Austell. This was her fourth time delivering at a local hospital.
Jasper Peyton was born at 12:29 a.m. and Gage Cooper was born at 12:32 a.m. by C-section after Brittany was admitted into the hospital for an accelerated heart rate and eventually started having contractions that doctors couldn’t halt.
Jasper weighed 4 pounds, 12 ounces and is 17½ inches long and his little brother Gage weighed 4 pounds, 7 ounces and is 16 inches long. They were born at 33 weeks.
The boys are Jim’s first two biological children but the New Year’s Day additions make seven in all for 30-year-old Brittany. She has five children from a previous marriage.
“It’s amazing!” said 44-year-old Jim. “I’m in awe of it all. It’s just a super blessing. I found a wonderful family and I’ve now added to a wonderful family that’s just getting bigger and stronger.”
His step children are Kailey, 11; Kamryn, 10; another set of twin boys, Jackson and Mason, 7; and Colton Eli, 5. All but Brittany’s oldest were born at the Austell hospital.
Brittany’s last three sons were named after Olivia and Archie Manning’s sons, two of whom are professional football players.
“Peyton Manning is my favorite football player ever and I’m just a huge football fan,” she said.
Jasper is also named after one of her favorite characters in the Twilight book series and Gage is a name that Brittany said her father really liked.
The couple, who will celebrate their two-year wedding anniversary in March, said the boys are doing well but Jasper was admitted into the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Tuesday for having slight problems breathing.
“I’m just glad that they are happy and healthy,” Jim said. “Jasper is a real strong fighter … Gage looks like he’s going to have his daddy’s appetite.”
They have been able to visit Jasper a few times.
As a first-time father, Jim said the most amazing thing he’s noticed so far is what he calls “voice recognition.”
“I talked to them while she was pregnant and now when I hold them or talk near them, they seem to recognize me … it’s pretty amazing,” he said. “They know who I am!”
The family hopes to be discharged from the hospital sometime Friday but it may be another week before they are able to take Jasper home.

Sadly, in addition to being physically unsightly and downright unhealthy, obesity has been proven to interfere with the quality of one's life...not to mention shortening it!
