MARIETTA — All of the “Big Three” credit rating agencies have once again reaffirmed Cobb County Government’s AAA bond rating, county Finance Director Jim Pehrson announced at Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners meeting. Standard & Poor’s joined Moody’s and Fitch Ratings, which had previously reaffirmed their AAA rating.

Cobb has had the highest rating available with Moody’s since 1995, Fitch since 1996 and Standard & Poor’s since 1997. The county’s bond rating affects its costs to borrow money, which is important because the county collects taxes at the end of the fiscal year, meaning it has to borrow money at the beginning of the year. A strong bond rating allows for lower interest rates. Chairman Tim Lee said the county is one of only 36 counties in the country to maintain a “Triple AAA” rating.

Good news if you live in east or west cobb.

South Cobb, including Smyrna, Mableton, Austell & Powder Springs are all SLUMS!!

All have been resettled by illegal aliens, that have run things down to the point the door is wide open for nothing but riff-raff to flood in.

And flooding in, it is!!

The aaa rating only applies to business dealings that involve the chamber, the cids & the fat cats!

Where are all the Tim Lee haters and naysayers. Some good news about the county and no one wants to tip their hats to Mr. Lee for his leadership. And no I am not Tim Lee or anyone involved in his reelection efforts. Just think that after all the bashing, we should recognize the good news.

ToTexG has it right! Many people are applauding, and rightfully so! There are some unhappy people in this world, and there is no way they can be convinced to be anything but negative. I am proud of Cobb and our services and our AAA rating. Perhaps some of the more miserable people should move on to another community.

Wow, the County I live in has a better credit rating than the Country I live in. Roll that one around in your noodle for a few minutes.

Regardless of whesxim arether the AAA rating is deserved or not it does allow Cobb County to borrow at a reduced interest rate.

As long as they do it judiciously and only when necessary that's a good thing for the taxpayers.

you don't understand how it works. money from taxes rolls in later in year, so we borrow to pay the bills until it comes in . AAA bond rating allows us to borrow with virtually no interest.

Well then that seems to qualify under the categories of "judiciously and necessary" that I mentioned in my previous comment doesn't it?

I am talking about other situations where the borrowing might be for wants instead of needs.

Sound fincial standing? Are u Kidding. They sacrifice everything else including those who work for the county. Instead they price out everything to employees and make them pay for everything they can so the County can keep there useless AAA bond rating. Give me a break.

It means zilch to you because you are ignorant. Educate yourself and it won't mean zilch. Or don't educate yourself and keep making ignorant comments which you are allowed to do because of free speech. Good ole USA!

Sir,

You have no idea how difficult it is to achieve and maintain this rating especially in these difficult times. It is an independent acknowledgement that the local government is in sound financial shape. It does not mean everything is going to be easy or that there is money available for unlimited services. It does mean that even in these difficult times, they are taking the necessary steps to remain financially strong and are able to meet all their financial obligations. If the Federal government were run like this we would be flourishing as a Country. The joke is you don't have any idea what this means and yet you comment on it like you do. Please educate yourself before you comment.
