Chief Superior Court Judge Adele Grubbs sentenced Muckle, who has a history of felony convictions, to life without parole.
Muckle reportedly entered the hotel office shortly after it opened wearing a mask, wielding an ax and demanding money.
In a separate trial, 44-year-old Kenneth Andre Eason of Fayetteville was convicted in Superior Court Judge Reuben Green’s courtroom of armed robbery for his role in the Oct. 28, 2012, holdup of a Waffle House on Six Flags Drive in Mableton.
Eason is facing possible life in prison. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Oct. 11. Charges are still pending against two codefendants in the case, Shantel Monique Washington and Charles B. Anderson.
