Dr. John Lipman, founder of the Atlanta Interventional Institute, 3903 South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, was recently awarded the Healthcare Hero Award in the Physician category during the Atlanta Business Chronicle Annual Awards Ceremony at the Cobb Energy Centre.

Lipman was selected from a group which included over a hundred nominees and three finalists. The award is given to a physician who has made a significant impact on the health care industry in metro Atlanta. He was selected because of his dedication to treating women suffering from uterine fibroids and his use of the groundbreaking non-surgical procedure, uterine fibroid embolization. Lipman is a leader in fibroid care, having performed more than 5,000 UFE procedures for about two decades.

Lipman is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine. He was the chief resident at Brigham & Women’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School.

He was awarded the Vascular & International Radiology Fellowship at Yale New-Haven Hospital, Yale School of Medicine. Lipman is an adjunct clinical assistant professor at the Morehouse School of Medicine.

He has appeared on ‘The Doctors,’ ‘CNN with Wolf Blitzer,’ ‘The Tom Joyner Morning Show,’ ‘Frank & Wanda in the Morning,’ ‘The Rickey Smiley Morning Show,’ ‘The Yolanda Adams Morning Show,’ CNBC, The Health Network and WebMD. He has been interviewed by numerous publications, including USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Family Circle, Jet, Newsweek, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, The Atlanta Voice Newspaper and the MDJ.
