Cobb EMC has expanded its energy portfolio to include solar power from Azalea Solar, one of the largest solar power plants in Georgia. Friday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the launch of production for the 7.7-megawatt photovoltaic ground-mounted project in Washington County. “We’re always looking for practical ways to diversify our energy mix and expand our renewable energy portfolio while still keeping costs as low as possible for our members,” said

Chip Nelson, president and CEO of Cobb EMC.

Cobb EMC’s power purchase agreement, signed in late 2010, will provide solar power generation over the next 25 years.
