Mr. William Lovic Cannon, Sr., age 79, of Dallas passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 17th at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Powder Springs with Pastor Frank Bernat and Rev. Tommy Willingham officiating. Interment will be at Cheatham Hill Cemetery in Marietta. Mr. Cannon loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren more than anything. Mr. Cannon “Cannonball” retired in 1991 after 40 years of service from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics as the Department Manager of tooling. Mr. Cannon was a Master Mason of Kennesaw #33 for 55 years and a member of Hope United Methodist Church of Dallas. He was a lifelong resident of Georgia. Mr. Cannon knew and loved many people and never met a stranger. Mr. Cannon is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara S. Cannon; sons William (Dub) Cannon, Jr. and his wife June, Steve Cannon and his wife Donna; three grandchildren, W. Matthew Cannon and his wife Amy, Colt Cannon, Carrie Cannon Corona and her husband Joseph; three great-grandchildren, Will Cannon, Cohen Cannon, and Izabella Corona; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Masonic Children’s Home of Georgia, in Macon, or Calvary Children’s Home, in Powder Springs, in memory of Mr. Cannon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 16th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home 770-943-1511.
