Aloha! Wear your Hawaiian shirts and break out your best grass skirt and hula on over to the End of Summer Luau. On Aug. 2, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the College of Continuing and Professional Education at Kennesaw State University will celebrate summer at this festive event starting at 6 p.m. at KSU Center.

This party is for adults 50 and older. OLLI socials are conducted throughout the year just for this special group. Two-hundred and twenty five people are expected to come out to dance to a live band, socialize and meet new people.

The Society Express Band will return and provide the soundtrack to this summer’s social. Food will be served, and participants are encouraged to dress in their Hawaiian best. A prize will be awarded for the best costume.

Attendees are also encouraged to bring pop tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The pop tabs collected help families of children who are ill.

Cost is $10. Reservations are required and walk-ins will not be accommodated. Doors open at 5:45 p.m.

Call (770) 499-3340, visit ksuolli.com or follow on Facebook.com/ksuolli.

Dale Hajost has visited Guatemala many times as part of a missionary group at Due West United Methodist Church in west Cobb. The group traveled to a village in Guatemala to build a church. Three years ago, Dale, who is assistant scoutmaster and committee member of Boy Scout Troop 444 in Marietta, started a sister Cub Pack in the village. He trained the leaders who recruited boys from the village and held their first Pack meeting. Last year, Dale raised money within Troop 444 and he returned with new uniforms for the Cubs and leaders. This year, he raised more money, shipped them Pinewoood Derby cars and they built a track on site and conducted their very first Pinewood Derby.
