Wells Fargo also announced that its employees gave or pledged $1.46 million this fall in the United Way and Community Support campaign — 13 percent more than last year.
In all, 68 groups received $1,000 checks at a community breakfast at the Mansour Center in Marietta on Oct. 15. Three additional breakfasts will occur in the next two weeks and some 240 groups will receive the same gift.
With the program in its fifth year, giving in metro Atlanta will exceed $1 million this fall.
All the groups were selected by frontline team members in bank offices in the bank’s West Atlanta area for the work they are doing locally.
“Just read the names to get a sense of the great work these groups are doing,” said Jim Lawrence, West Atlanta area president.
