Trevor Dozier won 2010 Georgia Player of the Year for U.S. Kids Golf spring tour.
He is one of only five youth from the U.S. Kids Golf Association to be invited overseas this spring to compete. He’s played in nearly 20 golf tournaments over the past two years. He is 6-year-old Trevor A. Dozier of Atlanta. Trevor is the oldest son of Tony Dozier, president and CEO of TDC Systems Integration. Trevor is now preparing to travel to East Lothian, Scotland in June to play in the U.S. Kids Golf Three Day European Championship, where the world’s best young golfers gather for the prestigious championship. Trevor will join more than 400 youth players from 30 nations to compete in Europe’s premier junior tournament that showcases the world’s emerging golfing stars.

His coach has seen tremendous improvement in Trevor’s skill and natural talent for the game. “When I first saw Trevor playing two years ago, he couldn't hit the ball that well, now his golf game is phenomenal for his age,” said PGA Certified Instructor, Rob Stocke. As the director of instruction at the Golf Club of Georgia, Stocke has been giving private lessons to Trevor for the past two years.

Trevor has competed in more than 15 tournaments since he started playing at the age of 4 and is now considered one of Atlanta’s youngest top junior golfers. “We're working on things that I normally teach adults, and he's only 6 years old. Trevor really loves the game, and he spends a lot of time between lessons working on the drills and areas we're trying to improve,” added Stocke. “Besides his talent and love for the sport, his understanding of the game has really improved over the past year,” he added.

Trevor enjoys playing and showing off his skills on the course while winning top placements among other young competitors. “I don’t really care if I win or lose, I just want to have fun playing,” said 6-year-old Trevor. “But I do like competing in tournaments and when I win it’s great because I get cool awards.” Trevor took first place for the 2010 Georgia Player of the Year in his age group for the U.S. Kids Golf Spring Tour. A year earlier he took fourth place in the U.S. Kids Golf 2009 Fall Tour. Trevor’s 2010 win qualifies him to play in the 2010 & 2011 Regional, European and World Championships. The regional championships are currently held in five different states across the United States.

This summer Trevor is scheduled to play in the three-day Callaway Golf Junior World Golf Championships in San Diego in July. Coach Stocke is expecting to see Trevor do well in the upcoming championships. “Most kids his age lose interest when the game becomes difficult, but Trevor's desire continues to grow. It's going to be exciting seeing how he does in the international events in Scotland and California - that's where he can really see where he stacks up against the best 6 year olds in the world,” said Stocke.

Tony Dozier, couldn’t be more proud of his son’s golf game and achievements. Not only does Dozier enjoy playing the sport but currently has all three of his children playing golf. “I have given lessons to Tony for a few years before he introduced Trevor to me - now I work with Trevor's brother, Nick, and his sister Trinity as well,” stated Stocke. “It's not uncommon for Trevor to drive Par 5 greens in junior tournaments; he has incredible power and accuracy for a junior of any level, much less a 6 year old,” commented Stocke.

The Callaway Golf Junior World Championships features a series of 12 individual stroke play tournaments for boys and girls in five separate age groups, ranging from age 6 and under, to the 15-17 age group division. The tournament was founded in 1968 with the goal of broadening the life and golf experiences of young players from diverse cultures. The inaugural tournament had 475 entrants from 20 states and six countries. The Callaway Golf Junior World Championships has since grown to a major event that draws more than 1,000 of the world's best young golfers from 43 states and 45 countries. Many Junior World Champions have gone on to successful careers as PGA professionals and as touring pros on the PGA and LPGA Tours.
