The Strong4Life wellness movement, launched by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, was presented the 2014 Health Hero Award for a deserving organization by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce this week.

Since its inception, Strong4Life has been committed to educating health care providers on the childhood obesity epidemic, providing nutritional training for cafeteria managers, and promoting the importance of physical activity and healthy eating, said Amy Selby, chamber spokeswoman. Through its healthy children campaign initiatives, more than 215 health care providers, 150 cafeteria managers, 18 Cobb County school nurses, and 15 schools have received training aimed at reducing childhood obesity. By providing a platform for healthier living, Strong4Life has made a significant impact on the health and future of children in the community through its relentless commitment and dedication, Selby said.
